Asantehene urged the youth not to allow politicians to use them.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has advised Ghanaian youth to reject offers from politicians and political parties who want to exploit them to stir up trouble, particularly around elections.

He advised the youth to avoid behaviors that might have a negative impact on their future and to consistently engage in activities that will foster peace and stability in their neighborhoods.

“The youth are agents of development in their various communities and should resist any attempt to be engaged in political hooliganism which can result in unpleasant consequences in the future.”

“It is by this that His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II urges the youth to take advantage of the educational trust fund to enhance their knowledge to become useful citizens in the communities and Ghana as a whole.”

Background

It is a common practice to see the youth being used by politician to cause mayhem in an electioneering campaign. The politicians buy all sorts of deadly weapons to these young boys to attack their opponents or those who do not share the same ideology as they are do.

Many of them are put in a vigilante groups like the delta force, the invisible forces and they likes. This groups engage in various deadly activities in the name of politics. They beat, kill and destroy properties just to please their paymasters.

Some of them are charged to use social media to rain insults and personality attacks on their targets on daily basis. They are sometimes paid peanut for all these barbaric acts.
