A team led by Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman and leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is traveling to the United Kingdom to attend a lecture by former President John Dramani Mahama.
The event is scheduled to occur at Chatham House in the United Kingdom on January 27, 2023.
The NDC’s Director of International Affairs, Comrade Alex Segbefia, the party’s deputy national women’s organizer, Comrade Abigail Elorm Akwambea, and its deputy treasurer, Comrade Vida Addae, are also included in the trip.
A statement issued by the party said, “The lecture, which will be under the theme: “Africa’s strategic priorities and global role,” will among other things discuss the prospects for economic recovery and growth on the African continent in light of the recent debt crisis that has compelled African countries including Ghana to seek debt treatment under the G20 Common Framework.”
According to the statement, Mr. Mahama will discuss with his audience the important economic and governance reforms necessary for economic stability and development throughout Africa.
“The Former President and distinguished statesman shall be sharing with his audience his ideas and insights on the key economic and governance reforms required for economic stability and prosperity across Africa. He will also discuss priorities for regional integration and Africa’s role and responsibilities in global economic governance,” the NDC added in the statement.
The team and the former president will meet with the UK/Ireland chapter of the NDC as part of the tour, the party added.
“The team, together with the Former President, shall hold a meeting with the UK/Ireland Chapter of the NDC as part of this visit,” the NDC added in the statement.
