Nana Obiri Boahene, the former deputy general secretary of the New Patriotic Party, stated unequivocally that the upcoming internal NPP elections to decide their flag bearer will be a breeze for Ghana’s vice president.
He stated categorically that the total number of votes cast for all NPP candidates combined would not equal even half of what Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would receive on election day.
He claimed to be sure of what he was saying and to be able to repeat it authoritatively.
Dr. Bawumia would win all 16 regions in the NPP presidential elections, according to Nana Obiri Boahene, a legal expert who was speaking on Neat FM.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Nana Obiri Boahen, who identified himself as the head of the international campaign for Dr. Bawumia to be elected president, said he had not requested any appointments from the Vice President. On the contrary, he was acting voluntarily.
“No man born of a woman can beat Dr. Bawumia,” he said, adding: “I am borrowing the words of William Shakespeare from his book, Macbeth,” to buttress his point.
Nana Obiri Boahen was, however, quick to add that so far, all the flagbearer aspirants who had declared their intention to contest for the party’s flagbearership were competent and capable of leading the party but “I am of the strong conviction that Dr Bawumia will win the contest and go ahead to win the national elections.”
“I know the volume of work I am doing for Dr. Bawumia, and everywhere I go, I receive a lot of encouragement from the people concerning Dr. Bawumia,” he stated.
The NPP’s former Deputy General Secretary said: “I am going to set this nation ablaze.” What I mean is that I am going to set this country politically ablaze by ensuring that Vice President Bawumia wins the NPP presidential primary and wins the national elections.
